I am a student at BYU with a minor in international development. I am currently taking a class called ‘International Health’. I worked on a module today about diarrheal deaths (not a pleasant topic, but even less pleasant because it contributes to 15% of child mortality in the world). While learning the ways to prevent these tragic deaths they mentioned something that most may not think of when they think of ‘ways to save children from suffering and dying from diarrheal diseases’ and that was FAMILY. Reinforcement of family knowledge is one of the best ways to prevent mortality among children.
This is why one of our long-term goals is to extend our organization internationally. By keeping families together and assisting them in their needs, we can make changes to the world in a way that many may not have considered to be so extremely influential.
