I Want Some Cheese. . .

One of the co-founders of this organization has a particularly adorable little niece. I was fortunate enough to get to go visit her recently- we've been close friends for many years and have lived in different time zones for close to four years now, so getting to spend some time together was absolutely fantastic.

We spent a night at her parent's home, where her older brother, sister-in-law and little niece were staying as well. Around two in the morning, her niece woke up, inconsolable, tired, and confused. She began to cry, and she came downstairs telling us how "life is just too hard" and that she "just can't do it anymore."

We both had to do some work to control our giggles as this darling little girl told us what a challenging life she leads. Eventually, a cheese stick and some snuggles with her aunt while falling asleep to Lady and the Tramp II was all that it took to make life a little more manageable for her.
What struck me about the entire situation, though, was the compassion and love that my friend handled her niece with.
It reminded me of the importance of family throughout everything, whether big or small, good or bad, support from your family can make all of the difference in the world.
