This BE YOU is from a while ago, but still fresh in my mind.
Last quarter, Seattle got a taste of snow.
I was walking into the book store to pick up a few things, and noticed a mother with an empty stroller. Next to his vacated stroller, a little boy, probably around two, all bundled up in his winter finest, was compacting pint-sized snowballs with great precision and tossing them to Mom, who was feigning severe injury from his harmless throws.
I caught the little boy's eye, and smiled and waved to him as I walked by. As I passed, I felt a small bump on the back of my leg. I turned around to see Mom with a slightly horrified look on her face, and a little boy with a big grin on his face for the awesome shot he had just landed.
I feigned shock, offering congratulations to the little boy for his stellar shot, and assured his Mama that it was no problem at all that he'd assaulted me with some compacted snow.
She smiled, and we had a brief conversation about what a lovable, adorable little boy she was raising. She described him as rambunctious, a word most definitely applicable to the majority of two year olds. He gave me a high five and a big smile as I departed, and went back to attacking his Mother with little bits of snow.
This Mom showed absolute support of her little boy.
Here's to all the Moms of the world who can proudly say they offer their children that.
